Comtemplation

One of the first things I learned about photography is that I'll always have the wrong lens on my camera. The second is that there will always be someone standing in your shot, and they aren't going to move until the conditions change and the photograph isn't worth making anymore. I remember thinking some ungracious thoughts about this guy when I was composing this shot; could he not contemplate out of shot somewhere? After all, Stonehenge has plenty of standing stones to stand behind.

It was only later that I realised how much he actually adds to the photo. When I look at him, I can't help but think about how many other people have stood there over the millennia in quiet contemplation, and I wonder what they were thinking.
